This morning, I asked the Lord what was on His heart today for the body of Christ…
For over a year now, the Lord has been speaking to me about the floating axe head in 2 Kings 6:1-7, and following a vision that I had of an axe head rising in a river, I’ve been spending time with God unpacking this piece of scripture. There is so much depth in these seven verses, that I’m convinced an entire book could be written!
It is an incredible piece of scripture, involving Elisha cutting off a branch to create a miracle of Divine exchange; a branch being cut down to allow the Iron axe head to rise up (cross reference John 15:2). All this action takes place at the Jordan river; a place of crossing over (from death to new life), into the promised land.
This morning, following my question to the Holy Spirit, I heard the words; ‘RISE UP AND PICK IT UP!’
After meditating on all of this, I felt to release that I feel the Lord saying that He was calling us to ‘pick up’ the mantles that have been suppressed/submerged by strongholds of religion, fear, doubt, unbelief, apathy, etc. It’s time to pick up the axe head and rise up as true sons of God (Romans 8:14).
After Elisha cut off a branch and performed a miracle making the axe head rise, he commanded the son of the prophets to ‘pick it up!’ I feel that we have been commanded and need to purpose in our hearts to take action.
The axe was borrowed and I felt among other things that this pertains to borrowed time. We are also metaphorically the axe head with an ability to cut down and build up. It is made of iron which pertains to our strength.
Earlier this week I hear in the spirit;
“The word for today is ELIJAH!” I feel this mornings word and this word are connected and found that in 2 Kings 2:13, Elisha ‘picked up’ Elijah’s mantle at the Jordan, followed by a miracle, parting the water with the mantle, allowing him to cross over.
Now is the time to rise up and pick it up to cross over to a new beginning into the promised land.
2 Kings 6: 1-7 NKJV
And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. Please, let us go to Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.” Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.” So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron axe head fell into the water, and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.” So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.
Romans 8:14 NKJV
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
John 15:1-2 NKJV
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
Matthew 3:10 NKJV
And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Pertaining to the axe, I’ve also been seeing 10:10 all the time lately…
Ecclesiastes 10:10 NKJV
If the axe is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success.
